I think it was a shock for people at the time because she really was a brunette and it was unsettling at least for me. I would like to see the Postman Always Rings Twice (which is technically very similar to DD as well as Il Postino) with John Garfield and Lana Turner to compare the two films.Have you seen PART?

Yeah, I did. I think the wig was intentionally supposed to look bad. Or, to directly quote, "cheap", because Stanwyck was supposed to be a "cheap woman".

I thought it was good.

Yes, I have...much debate about the blond Stanwyck wig and tattoo -- I thought Fred McMurray was unmercifully bland and frankly it's not up there in my favs but many say it was a good film. Do you like that one?

Well Casablanca which is technically not film noir but has many elements, To Have and Have Not, Rebecca, Notorious -- just to name a few, lol.

OH...MY...GOD! LAURA. My top fav films. Classy, sophisticated, noir. Oy, I'm getting goose pimples here. I was looking through my old comments and I saw your photo and I give you MAD props for this, lol.
